This article will explain how to make a pond filter and the materials you will need to build your pond filter for only .00. I have had the same pond filter running my personal pond since I started building ponds, which was more than 10 years in the running now. Yes that's right, I said only three times a year! Most filtration systems have to change the filter in them usually every 2 months. So lets go through the basics to get you started on how to build a pond filter.

The materials you will need are listed below:

1. 20 Gallon Tub
2. Bag of polyurethane
3. Biospheres
4. 24" wide by 1" thick, 2 feet long
5. 2 hose clamps
6. 1" thick, 3ft long hose
7. 25" filter pad cut round
8. 4' X 2' lighting grid

Take the 20 Gallon Tub, drill 2 holes (1inch in diameter), 1 hole at the top, and 1 hole at the bottom. Take the pool fittings and plug the 2 holes that you drilled in the tub, attache the tubes, then use hose clamps. Put the biospheres in the bottom of bucket, then cut out the filter pad to the same size as the bottom of the tub. Place the filter pad in bottom of the tub on top of biospheres. Take the polyurethane and place on top of the filter pad. Then cut out the lighting grid to the same size of the bottom of the tub. Once you do that, place the grid on top of polyurethane, place something heavy on top like a bricks or something similar in weight.

Congratulations you now have an easy to assemble pond filter that will last you for years to come, and it hardly costs you .00 to replace the filter each year!
